This walk has one challenging hill, but it is worth it for some of the best views of the whole Gower Peninsula! It is a circular route, starting from Rhossili Car park.
Distance: 3.8 miles
Difficulty Level: Medium (one very steep hill – not suitable for push chairs.)
Approx time: 1 1/2 hours
Turn left at the bottom of the farm drive and continue 1.7 miles until you reach Rhossili Car park. Walk down the lane running between the Bay Bistro and The Worms Head Hotel. Continue down the path and through two little gates. After the second gate, leave the gravel path and walk onto Rhossili Downs on the path which runs above and parallel to the beach. Continue walking along the path, through the caravan site until you reach Hillend car park (Llangennith.) Eddy’s cafe is located in the car park and is a great place to stop for a pit stop!
Now head out of the car park and cross the road by the car park pay kiosk. Go through a little gate opposite the kiosk and you will find yourself on Rhossili Downs. Get prepared for a steep hill which takes you to the very top of Rhossili Downs. There are several points where you can stop and see the whole of the Gower Peninsula, Rhossili and Llangennith beach on one side and when you turn around, you will see Three Cliffs Bay in the distance. Walk across the spine of Rhossili Downs, past the remain of a WW2 army radar camp, and then descending back into Rhossili Village and back to the car park.
